Genji Gatari
〜from The Tale of Genji
A mono-opera style performance, combining music and narration, created by violinist Ikuko Kawai and accompanied by seven Japanese instrumentalists. The story is based on "The Tale of Genji," written in the eleventh century by a female author.
The second act presents a concert featuring classical pieces and anime theme songs, with a guest appearance by a counter-tenor. This dramatic performance is a unique collaboration of Western and Japanese styles.
